Mutual Funds, Annuities, Stocks and Bonds

Mutual funds offer the advantages of individual securities, but allow for a lower minimum investment. While they fluctuate with market conditions, the risks are generally less than those associated with buying individual stock instruments. Mutual funds may invest in money markets, stocks, tax-exempt or government securities, or bonds.

A CoreFirst Investment Services Financial Advisor will be glad to help you set up an investment strategy utilizing mutual funds, or other investment alternatives. Mutual funds are not insured by the U.S. government or guaranteed by the bank.

Annuities can be a significant part of a long-term retirement savings plan. Annuities are investment products that can pay you a return annually or at regular intervals. When you buy an annuity, the insurance company invests your money and agrees to pay you back according to the terms of the annuity contract. Like mutual funds, annuities are not insured by the U.S. government or guaranteed by the bank.

Some annuities help you set aside money on a tax-deferred basis until you choose to withdraw the funds. You don't pay taxes on the income earned by this money until you withdraw the funds. Other annuities allow you to receive income immediately -- but the income you receive may fluctuate with changes in the financial markets and the income won't be tax deferred.
