Tomorrow’s Millionaire: Create a Network

Becoming a millionaire requires you to change your money mindset and think about saving, budgeting, and investing in ways you probably haven’t before.  

One of the best ways to get yourself into that mindset is to surround yourself with people who are already there. Try a few of these tips to create a network that can help you on your journey to millionaire status!

• Go where the millionaires are. To pick a millionaire’s brain, you need to find one! Go to the places in your community where millionaires or otherwise financially successful people gather. This could be your local university, Chamber of Commerce, or various networking community events.
  
  
• Keep a list of contacts you make. When you meet people who you’d like to foster a business relationship with, ALWAYS ask for a business card. Keep them safe in an organized file. You can even write a description of the person on the back of their card to help you recall what they look like.
  
  
• Use a network diary to remember your conversations. A diary enhances your list of contacts by helping you remember what you learned during important conversations.
  
  
• Reach out to your network periodically. People are much more likely to offer advice and support if you stay up to date with them, and make sure you’re in their sights. Check in with members of your network to wish them happy holidays, a happy birthday, ask them how their family is doing or just to say hello.
  
  
• Find a mentor. Getting advice from a mentor is the ultimate life hack! A mentor is someone who has already been in your shoes, and can help you navigate your financial and professional life.
